I am a European immigrant and do not have a strong opinion on interracial dating. I think in this country you are free to date whoever you want. Wow I only came to this site to see the pic of Chad and his kids. I am a huge fan of the Bengals and of Chad. I’m not into the blog thing but after reading this, I couldn’t resist giving my input. Now the BLACK MALE SHORTAGE DOES EXIST. From birth there are 1.8 million more black women than black men. Or for every 100 black men there are 112 black women. Factor in the ones who are incarcerated, unemployed (all time and dont want a job) and the ones who don’t have a HS diploma that leaves about 54 out of 100 for 112 of us to chose from. Then out in personal preferences ie skin tone height etc., geographical location, sexual preference and the ones who prefer to date inter racially its even less. That sounds like a shortage to me. Okay single black women keep focusing on you and enjoying life. Take the gourmet cooking class you always wanted travel abroad, go back to school and don’t be too wrapped up in “Mr right” and the biological clock. Trust me love will come. Statistically for me it was virtually impossible. I am a 34 year old black female who prefers black men so it was harder for me because I am divorced (I got married at 19?? I was tired of him not keeping a job when I was trying to do something with my life) and I have 1 child from my previous marriage. By the time I got divorced most of the men my age were already married. I also still want children. The ones who were single who I saw compatible were older and either couldn’t or didn’t desire any kids. Then I wont go there with the ones who had too many kids (I met one with 6 from 6 different women) and lacked a sense of direction ie in and out of jail and lacked stability, and lived for the moment. I was open to dating outside of my race but the men of other races who I met seemed to take things as a joke and didn’t seem serious. While you can’t be unrealistic, you still don’t have to settle for anybody. Forget what family, friends, co-workers etc. have to say. Be who you are and only except what you know you can tolerate in a mate. I have my ideals because I was raised by both parents who are still together. I know what a family is supposed to be. I wasn’t raised in the hood so I cant be with someone who has a hood mentality and hood ways. For me it was simple I wanted someone who had 2 children or less, family oriented, loving, supportive, had a stable job/career, and wanted something out of life. It was also fine if I made more money than him. For me that seemed like too much to ask. I have two degrees and I make pretty decent money, some guys had an issue with that even though I didn’t. Dont get it twisted yes I am independent I sure am. My parents did a great job raising me to be responsible work hard ant want something out of life. Allthough I am an independent and modern woman, I still have old fashioned ways. Although it would drive me crazy to be a housewife/stay at home mom, I still do 70% of the cooking and most of the cleaning eventhough I work everyday like he does. I was in the military and I have a career.I don’t want a Mamams boy but I do want a man to head the household. I finally met a black guy in his early 40’s with no kids who wants kids who has a stable career as a government employee who is compatible we are getting married next year and he will head my household. He is awesome and I am happy we are together.
