Merritt accepted a provisional suspension Thursday, agreeing to sit out while the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency resolves his case.
The 23-year-old Merritt said he hopes his family, friends and sponsors will forgive him for making “a foolish, immature and egotistical mistake.”
