In an exclusive interview with the New York Post, Plaxico Burress’ wife, Tiffany Burress, talks about his release date from prison, reunited their family back together, Mayor Bloomberg’s effort to convict him and more.
Plaxico Burress, a former New York Giants star wide receiver, is set to get released from prison on June 6,2011. Burress has spent the last 20 months in prison for attempted criminal possession of a weapon.

In November 2008, Burress went to a Manhattan nightclub with an unregistered .40 caliber Glock pistol tucked in the waistband of his pants. The handgun slipped out of his waistband and slid down his leg and fired, injuring him in the thigh. Plaxico’s gun wasn’t licensed in New York or New Jersey, where Burress lived, so he violated New York City’s gun laws. He also failed to report the incident to authorities.

When speaking to the New York Post’s Steve Serby about Plaxico’s June 6th release date, Tiffany says:

“I just get tears in my eyes, happy tears. Plaxico will be a free man and be able to come home back to this family.”

“I probably won’t even sleep,” Tiffany says. “I’m hoping that they let him out right at 12:01 or something, right after midnight, since he’s technically free on June 6. It probably won’t happen, but you never know [laugh].”

When discussing Mayor Bloomberg’s on going effort to convict her husband, Tiffany says:

“I’m not angry with Mayor Bloomberg because I feel like you should divert your energy in a positive way, but I do definitely feel that Mayor Bloomberg did make an example of him,” Tiffany says. “Because there were cases that were similar to Plaxico’s where [the defendants] only got a year or time even less than that.” To read the rest of the interview, click here.
