R&B singer John Legend surprised the congregation at Calvary Baptist Church in West Philadelphia with a performance of Aretha Franklin’s version of “How I Got Over.”
“I thought it’d be cool to kinda go back and do something that explored my roots a little bit,” Legend said. “It was just like church growing up for me. This is definitely reminding me of my childhood,” added Legend.
