Baltimore Ravens running back Ricky Williams announced on Tuesday that he won’t be back to fulfill the second year of a $2.5 million contract he signed with the team back on August 8, 2011.
The 34-year-old Williams said:
“The NFL has been an amazing page in this chapter of my life,” Williams said of his current retirement in an official statement. “I pray that all successive adventures offer me the same potential for growth, success and most importantly, fun.”
When asked about his post-NFL retirement plans, Williams said:
“As for what’s next, I am excited about all the opportunities ahead — continuing my education, running The Ricky Williams Foundation and whatever other opportunities present themselves.”
Williams is the father of five children by three different women. He married his long-time girlfriend Kristin Barnes (photo above) on September 4, 2009.
