Eriq La Salle Talks New Book “Laws of Depravity.” Plus Meet La Salle’s Ex-Fiancee!

Actor Eric La Salle stopped by the studio of “Good Day New York” recently to talk about his new book “Laws of Depravity.”

Also, meet La Salle’s ex-fiancee Angela Johnson below:

We are not sure who La Salle is currently married to or dating, but we do know he was engaged to his former fiancee Angela Johnson.

Back in 2000, Eriq LaSalle asked Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ronald M. Sohigian to sort out his personal and legal affairs, which was complicated by a broken engagement.

According to court papers, LaSalle and his girlfriend of five years, Angela Johnson, became engaged in 1998, purchased a vacation house together, refinanced it, and then broke up.

They used his money and her name to buy the house, LaSalle’s court papers said, “for purposes of maintaining his privacy, confidentiality, safety and security.”

At the time of the filing, Angela, who was vice president of a consulting firm, wanted half of what the house was worth.

La Salle met Angela when they were introduced by mutual friends, and La Salle admits that, for him, it was love at first sight. “Unfortunately, she didn’t feel the same way,” he says. “I pursued her for three years, and in the end I guess I just wore her down.” Johnson, who is also a Sunday-school teacher, has another explanation: “I found Eriq very attractive, but because he was an actor I thought he led a life that was too fast for me. It wasn’t until I attended his birthday party, and we danced, that I realized I was in love with him.”

Also, Eriq LaSalle made headlines in 1999 when he decided to end his character’s steamy interracial relationship with British physician Elizabeth Corday (Alex Kingston) on the popular television show ER because he felt it sent an unhealthy message to Blacks.

Because Angela is fair-skinned, La Salle said he sometimes got negative looks. But LaSalle said at the time, he was committed to showing the diversity and beauty of Black relationships.
