What was the cause of death of actor Sherman Hemsley?
Theballerlife.com just learned the cause of death of actor Sherman Hemsley, aka George Jefferson, who played on the hit TV show, “The Jeffersons.”
It has been reported that Sherman Hemsley died of lung cancer. It was revealed that the 74-year old succumbed to a rare condition known as superior vena cava syndrome.
Superior vena cava syndrome is a condition where the superior vena cava is obstructed due to cancer or a tumor. This stops blood from flowing to the heart.
Superior vena cava syndrome most likely causes lung cancer and Hodgkin Lymphoma. Lung cancer is the most common cause of death in the US, killing 158,000 people last year, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
There’s a lot that most of us never learned about Sherman Hemsley, such as the fact that he was an accomplished Broadway actor long before heading out west to do “The Jeffersons.”
You may also be unaware of the fact that he was nearly 20 years younger than Isabelle Sanford, who played his wife.(Source)
