First time movie director and Academy Award-nominee Angela Bassett shared secrets from the set of Lifetime’s new Whitney Houston biopic.

Bassett opened up about how she felt about Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina’s disapproval of the film after she was denied the role of playing her mother Whitney.
Instead, “America’s Next Top Model” alum Yaya DeCosta landed the role and, as you can see in the clip, she made a very believable Whitney. Meanwhile, R&B Artist Deborah Cox will provide Whitney’s singing voice and she gives us a first listen at her powerful voice.
