Meet Rita Bailey Tillman, wife of retired NFL star turned lead studio analyst for COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY, the CBS Television Network’s pre-game/halftime studio show.
Rita and Spencer are college sweethearts who met when they were students at Ohio State University.
They married back on November 17th, 1986, while Spencer was still a senior in college and Rita was working as a flight attendant.
The marriage of Tillman, a senior, and Rita Bailey, a former OU pompon girl, by a judge was a quiet ending to a 2 1/2-year dating relationship that had an unusual beginning.
“Our first date certainly was unusual. I was on a dating game fund-raiser, and her college roommate picked me for a date. The date was already paid for, but we couldn’t ever get together.”
Six months after the fund-raiser, Tillman said he was still trying to get the girl to go out. Finally, after inviting her to an Oklahoma City fund-raiser for the blind and finding she couldn’t go, he asked her roommate, who was Rita.
“That was it. Rita and I both had a great time,” Tillman said.
Spencer currently lives in Sugar Land, Texas, along with his wife, Rita, and their four daughters.
