In an effort to make his case on the economy to a broad audience, President Obama sat down with CBS News this week for an hour long town-hall meeting at the Newseum in Washington.

President Obama roasted Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Association annual dinner last night (Saturday), clowning the real estate mogul and reality TV star’s would-be presidential bid.
Trump sat and watched with a sour smirk among the laughing audience.
Before the president took the mic, Seth Meyers, the head writer for “Saturday Night Live,” served as the evening’s featured entertainer and took his turn roasting Trump.
President Obama discusses the release of his long form birth certificate, saying the controversy over his birth has became a “sideshow” to real problems facing the nation.
“Normally I would not comment on something like this,” the president said. But the country has “some enormous challenges out there” and that it will not be able to effectively meet “if we’re distracted. We do not have time for this kind of silliness,” Obama told reporters at the White House. “I’ve been puzzled at the degree to which this (story) just kept on going.” Watch the video below:
A Southern California Republican party official is under fire after sending an offensive email depicting President Obama as a monkey.
The OC Weekly obtained the email with the controversial photo, which shows the president’s face superimposed over the head of a baby chimp in a chimp family photo. The caption beneath the picture read, “Now you know why no birth certificate.”
Marilyn Davenport, a tea party activist and elected member of the central committee of the Republican Party of Orange County, sent the email and said she has no plans to resign. Davenport said she found the picture amusing because of the questions surrounding the president’s origin of birth.
“I’m sorry if my email offended anyone, I simply found it amusing regarding the character of Obama and all the questions surrounding his origin of birth,” she wrote to committee members. “In no way did I even consider the fact he’s half black when I sent out the email. In fact, the thought never entered my mind until one or two other people tried to make this about race.”

Last night, President Obama was caught on an open mic at a closed-door fundraiser in Chicago blasting the Republican’s efforts toward a budget deal that nearly shut down the government. CBS Radio News White House correspondent Mark Knoller listened in to this audio feed of President Obama’s conversation with donors after other reporters traveling with the president had left the room.
