Jimmy Greene and Nelba Marquez-Greene, the parents of “Sandy Hook” shooting victim Ana Marquez-Greene, made an appearance on ABC NEWS earlier today to discuss the launch of their new violence prevention initiative called the “Sandy Hook Promise,” which protect kids and families from violence.
Ana Marquez-Greene, 6, was one of 20 children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
Greene and Nelba, had recently moved there with Ana and their nine-year-old son, Isaiah, after spending about three years working in Winnipeg.
Isaiah was at the school at the time of the tragedy but escaped physical harm.
Greene, 37, is a saxophonist who taught at the University of Manitoba’s jazz program for about three years. He also performed with a local band.
The family apparently moved to Newtown because Nelba Marquez-Greene had been hired to teach at a local university and wanted to be closer to relatives.
