Actress Jurnee Smollett-Bell visited the studio of “Good Day LA” recently and talked about co-starring in the Tony-nominated stage production ‘The Trip To Bountiful’ as a character named Thelma, a young bride whose husband has just been sent overseas. At that time… she meets an elderly woman played by Cicely Tyson, who’s on her way to visit the small town where she was born.

Jurnee Smollett-Bell describes herself as very passionate when it comes to acting. For her, being in front of the camera is a pastime, something she really enjoys doing. According to Jurnee, the reason why she is still on the business is because she loves the story telling aspect and stepping into another character.
Smollett, who is known for her role of Jess Merriweather on the television series Friday Night Lights, was featured in the 1996 Francis Ford Coppola film Jack. In 2007, actor/director Denzel Washington cast her in his starring/directional vehicle The Great Debaters. From September 2010 to March 2011, Smollett also co-starred with Jerry O’Connell and Jim Belushi in the CBS legal drama The Defenders.
