Check out this “feel good” story about NFL star Joe Haden, who took a high school girl to her senior prom after she asked him out via Twitter.
Joyce Grendel, 18, a Senior at Independence High School, whose date canceled on her at the last minute, asked Haden via Twitter if he would be her guest and he immediately responded and said “yes.”
“I didn’t have a prom date so I decided just to ask (Haden) just to see what he would say,” said Grendel. “So I wrote him (on Twitter) and he replied right away. It’s just really exciting. I knew he was a like a really nice guy but I just thought he would be too busy,” said Joyce. “When he said yes I was like the happiest person on earth.”
Joyce, wearing a flowing purple dress, nervously waited with about a dozen friends, and family for Hayden to arrive at her Independence home.
Forget the limo, Haden pulled up in his white Lamborghini.
“Oh my God, oh my God. Mom, I’m scared,” Joyce said as Haden, wearing a grey suit, stepped out of the car and walked over to greet her.
The couple posed for photos, did the corsage, both with nervous smiles.
The happy couple then got into Haden’s Lamborghini and drove to the World on the River in the Flats for their senior prom.
