Theballerlife.com has learned that former NFL star and murder suspect Aaron Hernandez is trying to marry his fiance Shyanna Jenkins from jail, so she can’t testify against him in his upcoming murder trial.
However, a Massachusetts Sheriff says that is not going to happen.
MSN NEWS reports:
If Hernandez were to wed longtime girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins, she could be shielded from testifying against Hernandez at his trial. In some jurisdictions, marital privilege is similar to attorney-client privilege and makes communication between spouses confidential in court.
“I don’t subscribe to that,” Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson told USA Today Sports. “I feel that those rights are things that you access on the outside, if you’re a good citizen.”
Prosecutors said last week that Jenkins, who has a 7-month-old daughter with Hernandez, was cooperating with investigators until Hernandez called her and told her to stop talking to them, according to USA Today.
Hodgson said his department would “do everything we can” to keep Hernandez from marrying Jenkins.
