Meet Nikki Shaw, wife of former NBA star Brian Shaw. Nikki and Brian were friends for 10 years before getting married in 1998. The couple currently resides in Los Angeles, California with their three children.
In July 1993, both of Brian’s parents and his sister were killed in an auto accident in Nevada. His sister’s daughter survived the crash and Brian, with help from his aunt, helped raise his niece.
One day, when Brian’s niece Brianna was old enough to ask, he sat her down and held her hands and told her, “Your mommy went to live with God and left you here for me to take care of you,” and Brianna said OK.
Nikki Shaw, a graduate of Howard University and Southeastern Culinary Academy, is a professional chef and the owner of FLAVOR Caterer in Oakland, California.
Nikki was a finalist on Season 3 of the Food Network’s “Next Food Network Star” show. Chef Nikki is currently the host of the radio show “Today’s Flavor” which airs daily on Jamie Foxx’s ‘The FOXXHOLE’ Sirius XM satellite radio station, San Francisco’s KBLX and webcast on WBLS in New York.
Also, Chef Nikki works for the L.A. Lakers, teaching kids and their parents how to prevent childhood obesity. The team sends her out to different schools to talk to the children about making healthy food choices. She also works with the Anthem Blue Cross, Kaiser Permanente and the California Dept. of Public Health performing healthy cooking demonstrations. She is also writing a cookbook and developing a cooking show highlighting her unique FLAVOR philosophy.

Brian Shaw has played 15 years in the NBA. During his NBA career, he played for the Celtics, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers.
Shaw retired from the NBA following the 2002–03 season. He was appointed assistant coach of the Lakers during the 2004–05 season, a position he still holds (as of 2010).
