Tony Dungy’s Wife Lauren Harris

Meet Lauren Harris Dungy, wife of Former NFL player and coach Tony Dungy. Tony met Lauren, a Pennsylvania native and graduate of Quaker Valley High School, while he was an assistant coach for the NFL Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1980s. The two were introduced by a minister at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church after Dungy gave a breakfast speech.

The couple married a year later on June 19th, 1982. Lauren and Tony have two daughters, Tiara and Jade, and four sons, Jamie (died December 22, 2005), Eric, Jordan and Justin. Jamie committed suicide at age 18, outside of Tampa, Florida.

Lauren is a former elementary school teacher and current Sunday school teacher. Also, she is a motivational speaker and the founder and president of the Christian Sister’s Book Club. In her “free” time, Lauren loves volunteering for iMOM. The iMOM program is run by a team of moms, who have children ranging in ages from 3 to 21. The iMOM program focus is to equip mothers with information, ideas and encouragement to positively impact their children.

Tony Dungy is the first African-American coach to win the Super Bowl. Also, Dungy won the Super Bowl twice as a player and head coach. Dungy played Defensive Back for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1977-78) and San Francisco 49ers (1979). He was a Coach for the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts.
