Tisha Taylor Murphy, the wife of actor/comedian Charlie Murphy — star of “Chappelle’s Show” and older brother to Eddie — succumbed to a long battle with cancer, dying Sunday in her sleep at the couple’s home in New Jersey.
“Tisha passed away peacefully on Sunday with family at her side after facing the challenges of cancer for the past two years,” Murphy’s publicist, Lyndsey Jacobs, confirmed in a statement. “The Murphy Family appreciates all of the support they have received from friends and fans and requests privacy during this very difficult time.”
The Murphys were married in 1997 and have two children together. Charlie Murphy has a third child from a previous relationship.
My mother use to work with Tisha Murphy at the Passaic County Superior Court House here in Paterson, NJ. I never met her in person but she did send gifts to me through my mother and always asked about me. I still have the Hawaiian lei that she gave to me my sophmore year in high school. All I know is that she was a very generous woman and “I” will miss her alot!!! “I LOVE AND I WILL MISS U TISHA!”
