Meet Simone Ward, ex-wife of NFL star Hines Ward. The two met when they were both teenagers growing up in the Atlanta.
Both Hines and Simone are of mixed race background. Simone’s mother is Caucasian and her father is African American. Hine’s mother is Korean and his father is African American.
According to some news reports, the couple has been separated or divorced for approximately one year. The couple has one child together.
Simone Ward was born in Atlanta and raised by her mother in New Mexico. Simone attended the University of Georgia. She majored in Psychology, minored in African Studies, and graduated magna cum laude. Following college, Simone worked for Turner Sports where she developed lasting relationships while learning the ropes of the television broadcasting industry. In 2008, Simone took over the coveted role of Entertainment Reporter for the nationally syndicated, 2 Live Stews Radio show, where she was known as Lady Simone. It was that radio show that led to her current position as a NBA Atlanta Hawks TV Sideline reporter.
In addition to her love of sports, she currently serves on the board for the Congressional Black Caucus Scholarship Committee, and lends her support to efforts that raise awareness to the HIV/AIDS pandemic and women’s issues.
Hines Ward currently plays wide receiver for the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers. Hines was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He is the longest-tenured current player on the team. He was voted MVP of Super Bowl XL.
