Meet Shannon Walker Williams, wife of NBA star Ray Allen. The pair met when Ray was in college playing basketball at the University of Connecticut.
Ray and Shannon married at a private home in Martha’s Vineyard on Saturday August 16th, 2008.
Ray’s friend, R&B singer Brian McKnight sang “Never Felt This Way” as the couple made their entrance.
Ray and Shannon have three children together. Ray also has a daughter from a previous relationship. In 2008, the couple’s son Walker was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes while the family was in Los Angeles during the Celtics’ historic win over the LA Lakers at the NBA finals. Since their son’s diagnosis, both Shannon and Ray have become activists within the diabetes community.
Shannon Allen is a singer, songwriter, actress and television producer. Originally from Connecticut, Shannon studied music at Northeastern University and formed the R&B group, Shades, which was signed to Motown Records. Today, she continues her passion for music by writing and producing songs for her independent record label, New Music Chronicles, which she co-owns and operates.
After leaving Shades to pursue her acting career, Shannon made guest appearances on “S*x and the City” and “Strangers With Candy,” and has performed in recurring roles on “Blues Clues,” and “Century City” and “Sesame English.”
Ray Allen has played for the NBA’s Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and Seattle SuperSonics. Allen was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the fifth pick of the 1996 NBA Draft. After becoming a free agent on July 1, 2010, Allen re-signed two year-deal with the Boston Celtics on July 7 worth $20 million.On February 10, 2011, Allen became the NBA’s all-time leader in regular season three-point field goals made, surpassing Reggie Miller’s mark of 2,560. On March 11, 2011, Allen surpassed Miller’s career total of 6,486 three-point field goal attempts.
