Two weeks ago, the internet was buzzing with the news of NBA star Dirk Nowitzki marrying his fiancee Jessica Olsson in a traditional style Kenyan wedding over the July 15th, 2012 weekend.
However, many news outlets including us, did not immediately report the story because of the uncertainty of all the details. Dirk’s own NBA team, the Dallas Mavericks, denied it as well.
Now you can view some photos to prove that there was some ceremony geared towards their union taking place. It was a traditional Kikuyu wedding ceremony commonly referred to as Ngurario.
There was plenty of fun and and plenty to eat and drink. The bride, Jessica was wearing a traditional Kikuyu garment and Dirk was in a dark brown traditional outfit with orange hues. Jessica was also presented with a kiondo by elederly kikuyu women. She had to demonstrate how she would go to the market and shop for her husband.
Later the couple together with the guests danced to mugithi tunes.
The reason why the couple held a traditional wedding ceremony in Kenya, Africa is because Jessica was born from a Kenyan mother and a Swedish father.
