Theballerlife.com has learned that NBA star Raymond Felton has been arrested and charged with two counts of weapons possession after his estranged wife Ariane Raymondo-Felton ordered her attorney to turn in his gun to NYPD police.
The NYDailyNews.com reports:
The 29-year-old Felton was charged with two counts of felony possession for his ownership of an unregistered, armor-piercing firearm that he allegedly waved around aggressively during a fight with his wife, but never pointed at Ariane Raymondo-Felton, who filed for divorce and was fearful of the weapon being in their home. Felton was released on $25,000 bond early Tuesday evening.
Raymond Felton grew increasingly erratic over the last several months — “aggressively” holding a handgun during a Valentine’s Day clash with his wife as their 19-month marriage crumbled. The frightened wife filed for divorce a week after the fight, sources said.
Ariane Raymondo-Felton, 26, told cops she was going through a divorce and that she feared her husband might harm himself, sources told the Daily News. Her lawyer took the gun, which had been stashed under the bed at the Feltons’ Upper West Side apartment, to the 20th Precinct stationhouse about 5 p.m. Monday.
Ariane, a Cornell grad and current law student at Fordham, was interviewed by cops four hours later, leading the Knicks baller to surrender at about 12:50 a.m. Tuesday.
Felton, 29, escaped more serious charges because prosecutors couldn’t determine that he threatened his wife or had the intent to commit a crime.
The couple were no longer living together at the tony W. 63rd St. apartment in recent days, a source said.
The wife’s concerns were based on a number of incidents with Felton — not just the gun-related argument.
Felton and Ariane dated for a number of years before they tied the knot on July 28, 2012, in Wake Forest, NC.
