Meet Brandy Duncan, wife of NBA star Jason Maxiell. Brandy and Jason met back in high school. Two years ago, Brandy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Brandy battled her cancer head on and won with Jason by her side through all the hard times. Jason not only stayed with her, but he shaved his head bald to offer Brandy support when she was going through Chemotherapy.
Since Brandy’s cancer is now in remission, Jason decided to give her the most beautiful dream wedding ever. On August 2009, Jason married his longtime fiancé Brandi in Dallas, Texas.
Peep the wedding pictures below:
The couple hired famous wedding planner Donnie Brown(above) from ”Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?” to host their wedding.
After all the tough times they have been through, Jason (above) was overcome with emotion when he saw Brandy come down the aisle.
Jason’s NBA baller friends Tayshaun Prince, Amir Johnson, Richard Hamilton, Antonio McDyess, Rasheed Wallace, Maurice Evans, Jarvis Hayes, and Theo Ratliff were all in attendance.
Also, the NBA baller wives were there for the celebration . The baller wives in attendance: Fatima Wallace, Liara McDyess, Illia Hayes, Farrah Prince, and TJ Hamilton.
Congratulations to Brandy and Jason!
That is a VERY beautiful story. She’s a pretty woman. Finally a relationship based on love and not $$.
FINALLY, a REAL man who knows the value of what TRUE love is. It comes from the inside; therefore, it will last forever! Blessings to you and your beautiful wife!
It’s such a damn shame that a lot of these comments are focused on the color their skin. What difference does it make what color she is? This story was sad for the simple fact that she had to endure cancer but triumphant and beautiful for the support he showed his wife and that she is now in remission. Cancer is colorblind just as a lot of people are these days when selecting their life partner. It’s so pathetic that more of you aren’t as colorblind.
I know of this man back in Chicago, he told me a man, a beautiful man of color truly know how to treat his woman. But, he has to grow into this manhood and this is where woman of color play a strong role into what comes of this man. Everything that is stated negative about a woman of color is the same for all woman that walk God’s earth. Eventually all woman have something to say N will say it strongly for the love of her man. This is one of the most beautiful story that I have read and seen. I just wish Oprah had broadcast this wonderful story of love. Wishing you all the Blessings in the world.
i will never say anything bad about maxiell. a lot of respect for a guy like that.
Great story. Jason is a great guy. We surely enjoyed his play here in Cincinnati during his college days.
All the best. That’s a great woman you have.
This story needs to really have been documented and told. It not only shows true commitment, but what a woman of virtue can endure and what a man of integrity is truly about. I pray their future holds not only the blessings the God has for them, but even thru the vallies they may have to walk thru they are hand in hand with God ordering their steps.
To God be all glory
Oh please…homm,ie ain’t have that muh hair to begin with. I could see if he had dreads or something. And don’t hate the media for not printing the story, whites buy all the magazines and run the media company’s and cater to the audience. If he’d married a white woman, yeah that would get him on Sports Illustrated because the majority of the readers are white. They could connect with his wife. Same reason why you aren’t going to catch a white athlete doing the same with his wife on Essence…but if he had a white woman and was on Essence…yall sistas would love it and say “go girl.”
Cute story cutier couple!
Unfortunately, you are correct. Had he shaved his head for his white fiancee to support her as she received chemotherapy and married her afterwards, the media would have showed this story not only in print but tv as well, possibly including the Today show. He is to be praised because I don’t know how many men would have shaved their heads showing support to their fiancee. But I digress, it has been my unfortunate observation that the media does not highlight the personal lives of black athletics showing love to or married to black women.
I LOVE THIS STORY
Such a beautiful story and couple just when I thought true love was a thing of the past I wish them all the best . They are a true inspiration
Awwwww, such a beautiful love story. Congrats to you both.
Now this is the story that should have appeared on every single major network as well as all the TV personality shows, and not the consolation story on the ex-fiancee of NBAer that called off his 2mil dollar wedding.
Pictures of Brandi and Jason should be in Sports Illustrated etc. etc. If Brandy had been a white woman or damn near white looking woman, it would have appeared all over the place.
I praise you Jason!!!! for your character!!! My hat is off to you. I am going to try to spread this story all over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
even with the chemo, she still looks hot, with a bald head…
Just when I didn’t think love or true love really exist(s), this couple restored that. The story and pictures are absolutely beautiful.
May the future hold so many wonderful blessings for this couple.
