When we first heard about this story earlier today, we could not believe what we were reading.
Can YOU believe former NFL baller Sam Hurd tried to buy 200 pounds of marijuana and 5 kilos of cocaine while out on bail for the same charges – attempted drug trafficking.
Hurd, according to a recent profile in the Chicago Tribune, tested positive twice for marijuana while free on bail pending his trial on federal drug trafficking charges.
He also allegedly purchased 30 pounds of marijuana while on bail, and then allegedly tried to buy another 200 pounds of marijuana, along with five kilograms of cocaine.
Sam Hurd was arrested in Chicago back in December 20111 for allegedly telling an undercover agent he was interested in buying five to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week to distribute in the Chicago area.
Hurd is awaiting trial on October 9th, 2012 and could face up to forty years in prison.
Sam hurd is married to his wife Stacee Green Hurd (above photo). The couple married back in 2006 and have one young daughter together.
We are still “scratching our heads” on this one.
Why would Hurd (allegedly) turn to selling drugs when he just signed a three-year contract last year with the Chicago Bears, reportedly worth up to $5.15 million, including a $1.35 million signing bonus?
